Suzuki Motorcycles India introduced us to their all-new 150cc offering with the name “Gixxer.” That’s right, not even a “150” suffix or prefix, just “Gixxer.” Short and snappy, but also evoking immediate throwbacks to one of the reigning kings of the litre-class superbikes – the mighty Suzuki GSX-R1000.
The looks of the motorcycle is inspired by the legendary GSX-R sports bike and the bike borrows many traits from this elder sibling. For example the styling of the end can of the exhaust is similar to the GSX-R which also gets dual exhausts. The bike boasts of a headlamp with bikini fairing and gets a digital speedometer. The tank has been well-chiseled complementing the muscular naked look and is capable of holding 12 litres of fuel.the kerb weight of the motorcycle kept down to 135kgs, the Gixxer features telescopic forks at the front and a single-shock suspension with aluminum swing-arm at the rear. The motorcycle is equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The alloy wheels get a special Y shape while the bike also boasts of a wide 140/60R tyre at the rear and 100/80 size tyre at the front. Both are 17 inch in size and tubeless.
The motorcycle gets an electric start like other bikes in the segment and a carburetted fuel system. However, the two-wheeler is equipped with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology which, the company claims, helps to deliver both good performance as well as fuel efficiency.
